ENERGY and UTILITIES

Energy : steam consumption

Concerning consumption of energy and more specially of steam,
the subject needs really a serious and honest examination.

Energy comparison table

Almost all the steam is consumed during the heating phase :
CUT ( Come Up Time).

In the table beside, we have developped the differents  sequence and elements to heat during this phase.

All these operations are more or less consuming Steam, but more than 80 % is used to heat the machine and the product.

The calories used to heat the cascading water are compensated by the calories gained in the recuperation of condensates, one of the great advantages of the cascading water process.

On this point of view, the most common processes ( cascading, air/steam, spray ) are equivalent

( real difference is +/- 5% depending of the operating conditions).

Don't get fooled by unrealistic figures given by some competitors...

Utilities : operating costs

To compare all the processes, the most interesting is to calculate the cost per ton of products of our main sterilization processes : STERIFLOW, STERISTEAM and STERISPRAY .
This calculation has been made  from a standard 5 Baskets retort,  filled with 4200 cans 1/2 ( 420 g ) of vegetable. (same capacity for all the processes)

OUR ENGINEERS CAN EXPLAIN YOU ALL THESE CALCULATIONS.
TO COMPARE THE PROCESSES IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO TAKE INTO ACOUNT ALL THE COSTS INVOLVED.

CONCLUSION : cost per ton of product
    STERIFLOW  11.7 €/T ...........AIR/STEAM 13.1 €/T ........... SPRAY 15,5 €/T
